SOCIAL MEDIA & ME.
Do you ever scroll through social media and find yourself wishing, wanting, and feeling as though you are less than? Do you wish you looked like someone else or had their life? Do you look at the images and then look at yourself and feel as though you don’t compare? Do the images make you want to change things about your appearance? Do you use filters and apps that alter your appearance so that you feel better about the images people will see of you?
If you said YES to ANY of these questions you are falling victim to dangers of social media on our mental health. You may think you are in control of it but research has shown that depression, body dissatisfaction and eating disorders in young females have increased by _____ since 2013- it is no coincidence this is also around the time that social media platforms like facebook, instagram, snapchat and tiktok started to gain popularity.
Social media has created an alternate universe where the line between reality and fiction is blurred and the messages we are hearing and seeing (especially directed towards females) is taking a dangerous toll on our mental well-being.
If you are a young girl or a parent of a young girl who worries about both the short-term and long-term effects of social media on confidence, body image and self-worth, this course is for you.
